Food and Retail - Case Study 3
Acumen develops waste management strategy, providing consistent approach for retail property management company
Our customer is a major regional property management agent with a diverse portfolio of retail properties, mostly in city centre locations. The Company realised it had several waste issues:
- it had a wide range of existing service providers, each providing varying service standards
- it had no recycling strategy. As a result, most of its waste was going to costly landfill
- its costs were increasing year on year, due to its dependency on conventional disposal methods and the increasingly onerous legislation
Acumen was appointed as Total Waste Manager. In partnership with our customer, we agreed a waste management strategy which included:
- undertaking surveys of all sites and agreeing a specific waste management plan for each site. Our customer benefited from sustainable recycling and product recovery options, which led to reductions in their costs
- providing a dedicated account manager who could ensure consistent service and timely performance
- providing regular updates on changing legislation. Combined with account reviews, Acumen continuously improved the waste strategy to ensure compliance and minimise customer costs.
Acumen was able to provide our customer with sustainable solutions . We improved their current practices and reduced their operating costs. At the same time we adopted a proactive approach to managing their waste, in advance of changes in legislation.
